The hit Broadway musical “Grease” is being performed in Tokyo later this year, and it was announced on Friday that rising actor Toma Ikuta is playing the lead part of Danny Zuko. His supporting cast includes Sayaka Kanda as his girlfriend Sandy, former Morning Musume member Miki Fujimoto as the Pink Ladies leader Rizzo, and Musical Academy member Tomoyuki Yara as Kenickie.
The production opens at the Aoyama Theatre on October 20 and will finish up in Osaka during November.

Akihabara Stabbing Spree Leaves 7 Dead In Tokyo
Shortly after noon today (Sunday, June 8th), a man with a survival knife stabbed several people in Akihabara, Tokyo, leaving 7 dead and 10 injured (last the time this article was updated). It was reported that he drove a truck into a crowd of pedestrians before getting out and stabbing random victims. Paramedics set up a mini-emergency room in the middle of a busy intersection in Electronic Town and worked aggressively on the injured. Large blood stains on the street could be observed from overhead news helicopters.

I can’t possible imagine Toma taking up a role that John Travolta played… XDDDDD But it’d be interesting to watch a Japanese Grease! XD
And that Akihabara stabbing spree is just one of the bizarre happenings in Japan, although this is the worst of all. There’s a case of a guy randomly throwing soy sauce at schoolgirls on the street, and he said he just “felt stressed out”. And another case (which was highlighted on NEWS ZERO and poor Sho looked really angry about it T_T), where this guy was driving on the road and randomly swerved to the pavement and killed a few kindergarten schoolchildren who were walking by.
Crazy huh, what strange things people do when they can’t handle their emotions. It’s a rising issue in Japan recently o_O
I also read about the incident in Akihabara. Its really scary x_x
tashiichan: ye that’s true, i heard they have a lot of these strange cases. They’re society is so demanding and strict that i suppose these things happen, unfortunately, people burst.
They also have similar problems with studying, where teenagers/children have commited suicide because they couldn’t get into the school they wanted.

i read the akihabara shooting spree news as well and it’s just so scary. i agree with your remarks on their society putting so much pressures and when people can’t handle it anymore they resort to doing some unbelievable things, like this, or suicide, <_<
it’s interesting i read somewhere online that Japanese students who suffer emotionally and don’t do so well academically in Japanese schools do so much better and become better emotionally when they move abroad to Western school. i guess it also goes to show the Japanese high standard on education is one of the reasons why they’re one of the best.
and on the lighter note.. toma for grease? i say yes to that. xD

toma in grease…. wow. i would loooove to see that!! I love that movie so seeing the japanese do it would be awesome! haha, when one of my little cousins was 3 years old, she used to sing along to the whole movie and even to the soundtrack she made her mother play in the car. haha.
as for that news… i hate when people want to be noticed so badly, if you hate life and yourself so badly, end your own life and leave others to find the way they want to die. blaaaaah, people. lol.
